Abu Dhabi: Thousands of residents across the United Arab Emirates are increasingly turning to Estafser, a smart digital inquiry platform launched by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD), to swiftly check for travel bans, legal cases, financial claims, and other administrative matters eliminating the need to visit government offices.
In the first quarter of 2025 alone, ADJD received 6,292 electronic inquiries through the platform, demonstrating its growing role in helping users avoid last-minute travel disruptions at UAE borders.
Estafser, which means “Ask” in Arabic, is available around the clock through the ADJD website and mobile application.
The system connects residents directly to secure, real-time updates on their legal status, drawing data from the Public Prosecution and related government bodies.
Users can inquire in Arabic, English, or Urdu and receive notifications via SMS, email, or in-app alerts.
The portal allows residents to verify whether they are subject to travel bans, active court proceedings, or unresolved financial obligations, with answers delivered within a streamlined, paperless environment.
The efficiency of the platform is a major draw. The ADJD confirmed that 97% of queries are resolved within one working day, and 99% within three days, underscoring the strength of the department’s digital infrastructure and its commitment to responsive governance.
Estafser’s rising popularity reflects the UAE’s broader push toward smart, transparent, and paper-free government services.
Adding to these advancements, the UAE’s Ministry of Justice recently automated the process of lifting travel bans now instantly removed upon resolution of the associated legal matter, without the need for further applications or steps.
This replaces the earlier, more time-consuming nine-step removal process. Similarly, Dubai Police and other federal and local agencies offer their own digital platforms for checking travel bans and legal statuses, especially those tied to financial disputes.
As the UAE continues to lead the region in digital transformation, platforms like Estafser are becoming essential tools for residents to manage their legal standing efficiently and avoid bureaucratic delays.
